Ponderosa Speedway Welcomes Drive Smart Kentucky on Friday July 11

Junction City, KY-July 10, 2008- Ponderosa Speedway track promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are pleased to announce and welcome Drive Smart Kentucky to the track for the 13^th Annual Pete Abell Memorial this Friday July 11.

Drive Smart Kentucky is a sponsor with the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series, as the Louisville, KY based tour will be sanctioning Friday evening’s racing activities.  Drive Smart Kentucky area representative Shella Eagle and her staff will be set up in the concourse area this weekend at Ponderosa Speedway and will have free giveaways, plus have information to distribute about the importance and mission of the Drive Smart Kentucky program. 

"The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety's Drive Smart Kentucky program was established for the purpose of preventing deaths and injuries on Kentucky's highways," said Boyd Sigler, Director of Highway Safety Programs.  "Lack of safety belt use, speeding and impaired driving lead to the greatest number of deaths and injuries in Kentucky."

“We are so pleased to have Drive Smart coming to Ponderosa Speedway to promote their highway safety program”, stated Ponderosa Speedway co-promoter Larry Yantz.  “We want the racers and fans to remember that racing is for the track and not our highways and we all the fans in attendance this Friday evening to leave with something from the Drive Smart Kentucky display”.

Drive Smart Kentucky will be at the 13^th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event this Friday July 11 at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY and will pay $3,000 to win for the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Models, along with a full program for the Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models, Hardee’s Modifieds, and SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman.
