N.H.R.A. FINISH LINE PREVIEW
Back in action after a week off this week we bring you the
results of the running of the 29th Annual MOPAR Mile-High
N.H.R.A. Nationals being held July 11th -13th, 2008
at Bandimere Speedway in
Morrison, Colorado which is just West of Denver.
With this race we begin the first race of the Western Swing
which is comprised of three races in as many weeks and it’s a true test
for drivers and their crews.
The drivers were hit with some new changes and the biggest was
the fact that temporarily the nitro classes, Top Fuel and Funny Car, will
only race to the 1,000-ft. mark instead of the traditional 1,320-ft. mark
or quarter mile. The N.H.R.A. has established this in an effort to review
all options in order to make the sport safer after the loss of Scott
Kalitta. Most drivers and crews hope to return to the full quarter mile
shortly. As it is for now, no new records can be established in these
classes as all are based on a quarter mile run and have been since the
N.H.R.A. was created. Other changes were the mandatory new frame for the
Funny Car class and both Top Fuel and Funny Car must run the new Goodyear
tire.
In qualifying, Pro Stock Bike rider Ed Krawiec set the new
Track E.T. Record with a 7.328 E.T. And in Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson
set the new Track E.T. Record with a 7.010-E.T.
Come race day and we have another beautiful day for racing. We
managed to have another Track record set in Pro Stock as driver Greg
Anderson re-set the Track MPH record with a 196.39-mph.

So we now have the 13th stop of the POWERade
Championship season in the record books. It was the first race held under
the new 1,000-ft. for the fuel categories and we hope that the N.H.R.A.
returns to the quarter mile shortly and in the process comes up with ideas
to make the sport safer to be a part of for them.
We would like to give a big THANK YOU to all the fans for
their support and for choosing the N.H.R.A. as their sport. We would like
to give the N.H.R.A. Safety Safari a HUGE THANK YOU for all their hard
work on and off the track to get an event in such as this.
Please join us next weekend as we’ll bring you the results of
the running of the 21st Annual Schuck’s Auto Supply N.H.R.A.
Nationals being held
July 18th-20th, 2008
at Pacific
Raceways in
Kent,
Washington which is just East of Seattle. It’s the second stop on the
Western Swing. Hope to see you there!
