HAUBSTADT ANOTHER VICTORY FOR STANBROUGH
> By Eldon Butcher
>
>
Haubstadt, IN- June 28, 2006. Jon Stanbrough collected another
> Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car feature win Saturday night at Tri-
> State Speedway. The Brownsburg, IN, sprint car competitor has won 3
> of the 4 MSCS features held at the track this season. This time it
> was from the pole of the front row he shared with A.J. Anderson.
> Following a 4 wide salute to the fans to the accompaniment of a blitz
> of Sgt. Pepper’s fireworks the 2 drivers blasted into the first turn
> with
Anderson diving to the inside and Stanbrough roaring by and into
> the lead. Stanbrough led for the entire 25 lap distance.
>
> In the post race interview Stanbrough noted that “the car was
> flawless.” This he attributed to the crew of the Fox Brothers Racing
> Team sponsored by Jarvis Enterprises and Fatheadz.com. The car is
> owned by Brad and Steve Fox.
>
> Defending MSCS Champion Kyle Cummins of Princeton, IN, sailed to
> a second place finish in the feature. Cummins was in the hunt
> running third and fourth until the 14th lap when he moved into
> second. A.J. Anderson of Stateline, IN, took third. Fourth went to
> Jeff Bland Jr. and Danny Holtsclaw was fifth.
>
> Finishing out the top ten in order were Chris Windom, Robert
> Ballou, Chris Urish, Blake Fitzpatrick, and Hunter Schuerenberg.
> Schuerenberg had worked his way up to second by lap 19 when he drew a
> yellow flag as the car stopped in turn four and he had to restart on
> the tail. Daron Clayton was running as high as fourth before
> retiring with damage to the car during a red flag when Kenny Biro hit
> the wall and rolled his car over.
> Rookie Ricky Williams was the Wilwood Tuff Brakes of the Race
> recipient.
>
> A wide cushion developed in the turns during the feature.
> Drivers still found room to pass and it served some of the drivers
> engineering slide jobs very well and collected others upsetting their
> plans to gain a position. Three of the 21 starters moved up through
> the field to improve their positions by 11 spots each. Jeff Bland
> Jr., Robert Ballou, and Blake Fitzpatrick provided lots of forward
> mobility. Bland was named the Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger of
> the Race due to his having the higher finish.
>
> Heat racing produced 5 winners. They were Holtsclaw,
> Stanbrough, Cummins, Anderson, and Cole Whitt. Whitt won the trouble
> laden fifth heat. However in the process he lost an engine and had
> to withdraw from the feature. He would have started on the pole.
> Mike Hess won the C-Main. Hud Cone won the B-Main. With 41 cars on
> hand for the race the B was loaded with name drivers. Several of the
> top ten MSCS drivers missed the show due to the keen competition or
> from damage to cars from being involved in an accident. Two drivers
> got upside down. Flips involving Chad Boat and Kevin Thomas Jr.
> brought about red flag conditions.
>
> The MSCS Sprints will now move on to Union County Speedway in
>
Liberty, IN, for a Thursday night July 3rd appearance. The date will
> mark the first of two MSCS races to be held there this season. Tri-
> State Speedway will host the WoO Sprints on July 6th and the USAC
> Sprints on July 19th before the MSCS Sprints return for the Hoosier
> Sprint Nationals on August 2nd.
