Tri City (IL) and Lucas Oil (MO) Speedway Up Next for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
  

CORONA, CA (July 16, 2008) - Coming off of an action-packed weekend, both events having jam-packed grandstands; the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series comes to Illinois and Missouri this weekend to visit Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL on Friday Night, July 18th and returns to Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday Night, July 19th in Wheatland, MO.  Both shows will pay $10,000 to win.
 
Friday Night's event at the Kevin and Tammy Gundaker promoted Tri-City Speedway will be filmed before the cameras of SPEED Channel. The event will see a complete show for the LOLMDS with PRC Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 50 lap $10,000 to win/$700 to start "Budweiser 50."  It will be the fourth appearance by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at the facility, which was re-configured last year to a 3/8ths mile track.  Previous LOLMDS winners at Tri-City include; Earl Pearson Jr of Jacksonville, FL; Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL; and 2007 winner Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR.  For more information on the race at Tri-City Speedway, log onto the www.tricityspeedway.net or call the track office at (636) 448-9111.
 
Saturday Night, the LOLMDS heads to the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks," Lucas Oil Speedway, located in Wheatland, MO.  The "CMH Late Model Showdown" will feature the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the O'Reilly MLRA Series in wheel-to-wheel racing action.  There will be a complete show for co-sanctioned event with PRC Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the $10,000 to win "CMH Late Model Showdown."  The race will mark the fifth appearance in the last three years for the series to the immaculate facility.  Previous LOLMDS series winners at Lucas Oil Speedway include Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA who won events in '06 and '07; 3-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion Earl Pearson Jr ('07); and Shannon Babb, who back in May, captured the $40,000 to win SuperClean Diamond Nationals.  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is coming off of two events this past weekend at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL and Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS.  Both wins were taken by two members of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame, with Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN (at North Alabama) and Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN (at Columbus), both of whom scored his first series win of 2008.  For Smith, it was his first career LOLMDS win, but marked his, series leading, 16th victory overall in LOLMDS action for Bloomquist.
 
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has now contested 26 shows with 18 different winners. Last weekend, the total (different) competitors count for the year exceeded 500 cars, with a total of 506 drivers participating in at least one event in series action during its historic $2.9 million dollar season.
